WHAT WE BELIEVE

Philippians 2:5-11

We believe in HOPE– That the dark things we experience are not the end, that there is a new reality, and that this reality is shown in Christ.

Romans 5:1-5

We believe in SUFFERING– We do not see suffering as a failure of God but rather the way God interacts with us. God’s story has always been to step into suffering and bring a new reality: Hope. God does not make us suffer but transforms it.

Romans 5:8

We believe in LOSERS– God has always chosen to transform the world by choosing the broken, the deniers, the betrayers, the murderers, the adulterers, cheats, and liars to be his people. We are proud to count ourselves among such an infamous group.

1 John 4:7-12

We believe in LOVE– Not simple, easy, pop-song love but hard, challenging, committed love. This is how God loved us so it’s how we ought to love one another.

Psalm 95:1

We believe in JOY– This is good news that we believe does not mean we act serious and sad for the rest of our lives. It is a reason to live joyfully as a “thank you” for what God has done.

Hebrews 12:1

We believe in HELP– That we are not set off alone and adrift but are given a great cloud of people to help us discover our joy and purpose. This is the church.
We profess this creed as true in our Church:
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary,
who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
 Amen.
*catholic means whole*

WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome to Central Lutheran Church!

We are excited to have you join us. And we are also aware that you may come wondering what to expect at Central Lutheran. Here are just a few things that you may notice.
Our worship is a bit noisy, not because of drums or singing, but because of the children in our midst. Children are welcomed and embraced at Central. In fact, we want to see AND hear children. Sometimes worship will feel meditative and other times it will feel like organized chaos. That's who we are. We love and embrace the children around us. That's just how it is! But we also know that children, at times, need a break. And if a break is needed, there is the Haven, a room available where you can still experience worship (via TV) but give your child the break that they are in need of.

Come as you are. You will find people in dresses and suits and others in tee shirts and jeans. Just come. We don’t care, and we really don't think God cares what you’re wearing.

People bring their Bibles. We like to use the Scriptures intentionally in our worship. But don’t worry if you don’t have a bible. We have one for every seat, so use ours.

During worship you will notice people making an offering. Through our offerings we can support God's mission for our church, but don't feel that you will be pressured to give because we don't expect you to give.

When you come to Central, chances are someone may say “Hi.” That's just who we are! We like to welcome the people who gather together.

Communion. We have Holy Communion every Sunday and Wednesday and EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO THE TABLE. If you don’t feel ready to commune, no worries. But just know that you are invited!

There are a variety of ways to worship God at Central and all of them are right and amazing in their own way. Take your time. Find the service that is comfortable for you that helps you feel connected to God.

If it’s your first time joining us please introduce yourself to one of our Hospitality Team members in the Welcome Center located just outside the Worship Center. Let them know it’s your first time visiting and they will show you where to go and take you for a tour if you’d like. If you have children, they’ll also help show you our Haven and craft area which are our children’s specific environments. After the service, please grab a first time guest bag from the Welcome Center. In it you’ll find more information about Central and an opportunity to provide feedback for us.
