Bible Central Lutheran Church | Read The Bible To all parents, this is a reminder of the promise you made at your children's baptisms: Teach them the Lord's Prayer, the Creeds, and the Ten Commandments. The easiest way to do this is to read Bible stories to your kids from the minute they are born until they are reading themselves. Then, when they get their Bibles in 3rd grade, they can find familiar stories almost anywhere they turn. This only takes 5 or 10 mintes a day. And here are the books to use: The Beginners Bible from www.zonderkidz.com is great to read to kids who are below reading age. The Arch Books series of Bible stories from Concordia Publishing House are written at the 3rd grade level, and tell a complete Bible story with wonderful illustrations. Read the bible. Not just the interesting parts (Genesis 1-12, or Luke 2). Not just the racy parts (Genesis 38 or 39, or Song of Solomon). The whole thing. Read two or three Old Testament chapters, plus one or two Psalms, and one or two New Testament chapters every day and you'll get through the whole thing in less than 365 days. If you need help keeping track, or even with those difficult names, here are a couple of websites to try: oneyearbible.com - has a reading plan for each day of the year. biblegateway.com - has an Audio version that will read the Bible to you, one chapter at a time. It's amazing how many chapters you can burn through when an expressive, British voice takes you through the books as they were intended to be heard.
